Our employees are essential to our performance as a bank. We promote the professional and personal development of our employees, and we foster a culture in which everyone feels respected and has the opportunity to develop.
We want to use our combined potential to make a positive contribution to the development of society and our environment. We also want to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability beyond LGT – with our employees as key ambassadors.
People from over 64 nations work at LGT. Competence and experience are important to us, which is why we also consciously hire people over the age of 50. In 2022, this group accounted for 11.1 percent of new hires.
We are convinced that having a diverse workforce makes our company more successful. Diversity and inclusivity are fundamental principles for LGT at all levels.
We have set a 30-40-50 target: by 2030, we want the share of women in senior management positions at LGT to be at least 30 percent. This figure should be 40 percent across all management levels. In the overall workforce, we aim to employ 50 percent women. As at the end of 2022, 18.8 percent of senior management was female, this figure across all management levels was 23.1 percent, and for the overall workforce it was 42.1 percent.
At LGT, we foster shared values and follow strict ethical and professional standards. These are set out in our Code of Conduct.
We treat others with respect – both when meeting within the company and with external stakeholders.
At LGT, we place great emphasis on ensuring that all our employees are afforded training opportunities relevant to their profession. In 2022, each LGT employee completed around 30 hours of internal or external professional training, on average.
Since 2020, we have been pursuing a training initiative for sustainable investing: in workshops and web-based courses, our relationship managers are trained how to address sustainable investing in discussions with clients in a professional manner.
In 2022, we also held a series of Learning Lunches for employees focused on sustainability topics. As part of this initiative, renowned international experts provided insights into the latest developments in areas such as climate protection, circular economy and plant-based nutrition.
At LGT, we think that moving forward also means breaking new ground. We want to foster innovation. LGT Kickbox is an intrapreneurship programme that enables employees to validate, test and implement their ideas. A sustainability challenge via Kickbox resulted in several initiatives for the bank in 2022.
As an employer, we are committed to providing new perspectives. LGT offers young people a practical introduction to the professional world, for example, through IT or commercial apprenticeships, internships and our program for graduates with a bachelor or master’s degree.
We also want to promote young talent outside of the company. 2022 marked the seventh time that we awarded two scholarships to students pursuing a master’s degree in finance at the University of Liechtenstein through the LGT University Scholarship.
Today we are setting the course for the future. This means understanding the next generation’s thoughts, concerns and values. Our LGT Next Generation Academy helps the offspring of existing and prospective clients gain financial expertise. The program covers topics such as “Family Governance” and “Investing with Purpose”.
At LGT, we regularly offer programs aimed at promoting the mental and physical health of our employees. This includes opportunities for exercise and sports, healthy eating and recreation.
In 2022, mindfulness was a specific area of focus: over the course of a month, we drew attention to mindful activities such as walking, reading, meditation and yoga, which are shown to have a favorable impact on people’s personal and work life.
We are convinced that personal satisfaction as it relates to individual work models is another important factor in delivering excellent services. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have increased flexibility with regards to work locations and times wherever possible. Also in 2022, LGT offered its employees support for working from home, for example, in the form of hardware.
The programs offered by the Liechtenstein Academy Foundation also focus on the personal development of our employees. The Academy at Schloss Freudenfels is open to employees from all LGT locations. In 2022, 500 participants attended the Academy.
The seminars of the Liechtenstein Academy are geared towards self-reflection, responsibility and gaining a better understanding of one’s personality and how it influences our interactions.
In addition, the Academy’s “Drive4Impact” seminar provides thought-provoking inputs on sustainability. Together with scientific and business experts, we discuss humankind’s impact on the environment, economy, politics and society.
