LGT has reconfirmed its commitment to art and music, and extended its partnership with the LGT Young Soloists, a successful international ensemble of young soloists, for a further six years.
LGT has been the main sponsor of the LGT Young Soloists since their founding in 2013. The ensemble offers highly talented young musicians aged 13 to 25 a unique platform to showcase their skills on stages around the world. The LGT Young Soloists give up to 50 concerts a year and have performed at some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Kennedy Center in Washington. They are also the first youth orchestra in the world to release an album with Sony Music/RCA. LGT has extended its sponsorship agreement with the orchestra for a further six years.
The concept behind the LGT Young Soloists is unique. It brings together the best young musicians, who at present hail from over 20 different nations, and gives them the opportunity to perform with their orchestra as soloists and gain valuable onstage experience that helps prepare them for a career as professional musicians. Over the past 11 years, the LGT Young Soloists, under the direction of their founder, Alexander Gilman, a violinist and professor at the Royal College of Music in London, have established themselves as one of the world’s leading youth orchestras. "Our soloists are exceptionally talented and passionate. Unfortunately, however, not many young musicians are given the opportunity to perform onstage or receive support", says Alexander Gilman. "And that makes LGT’s support of these ambitious, emerging talents on their path to an international career all the more valuable."
LGT and its owner, the Princely Family of Liechtenstein, have a long tradition of musical patronage. For example, Princess Maria Josepha Hermengilde of Liechtenstein commissioned Joseph Haydn to compose five masses, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote a serenade for Prince Alois I of Liechtenstein. H.S.H. Prince Philipp von und zu Liechtenstein, says: "I have always found crossing paths with highly talented young people and supporting them on their journey a fascinating and enriching experience. And that is why continuing this tradition with the LGT Young Soloists is a commitment that is very dear to my heart."
